Walt Riehemann
General Counsel
Walt has a diverse range of experience in mergers and acquisitions, securities regulation and compliance, general corporate law and corporate governance, employee benefits and executive compensation.
Previously, Walt served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Adams Laboratories, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the late-stage development, commercialization and marketing of over-the-counter and prescription pharmaceuticals. Walt had served as part of the team that led Adams through its restructuring and initial public offering in 2005. He then directed all legal functions for the Company, culminating in its $2.3B sale to Reckitt Benckiser in 2008.
Prior to joining Adams, Walt was President and Chief Executive Officer of Dawson Managers, Inc, a management consulting firm engaged in corporate restructuring and the provision of interim management services to start-up and troubled companies. In this role, Walt was retained by various state departments of insurance as an adviser and deputy supervisor and led the administrative supervision of the only company in Florida history to be placed under administrative supervision and successfully emerge as a full functioning insurance company.
Walt has other career experience in corporate law, including serving as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of RISCORP, Inc., a publicly held workers compensation insurance holding company, where he led the company's initial public offering and was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, employee benefits and relations, securities law compliance, insurance regulatory compliance, litigation management and a wide range of general corporate matters. Walt also led the team that restructured RISCORP after its initial public offering, culminating in a going private transaction in 2000.
Prior to joining RISCORP, Walt was in the private practice of law with the Dallas, Texas office of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue and the Atlanta, Georgia office of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy.
Walt earned his B.A. cum laude from Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska in 1987. He earned his J.D. summa cum laude from Ohio State University, College of Law in 1990. Mr. Riehemann is a member of the Order of the Coif and is licensed to practice law in Georgia and Texas.
